Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Teacher & Team Arrangement

  • Can one teacher be responsible for two teams?
    • No, it’s one teacher per team
  • Can our team’s teacher be from a different school while the students are from the same school?
    • Yes, as long as all students are from a public school. If any team member (including the teacher) is from a private school, a registration fee will be required.
  • How many teams can one school send?
    • A school can send up to 8 teams.
  • Is the teacher responsible for student registration, or can students register themselves?
    • Teachers must complete the registration for their students.
  • Can Form 4 students participate?
    • No, the competition is only open to students up to Form 3.

Competition Format & Requirements

  • Are we still using Scratch for this competition?
    • Yes, Scratch will continue to be the platform used for this competition.
  • Can we use sprites that were made before the competition?
    • Yes, you can use pre-made sprites in your projects.
  • Will there be 10 bugs like last year?
    • No, for 2025, there will only be 5 bugs.
  • When will the first round start?
  • Is there a sample for students to practice?
    • Yes, students will get to practice during the workshop. We highly recommend teams attend the online workshop for preparation.

Workshop & Presentation

  • Can we receive the presentation slides?
  • Will the workshop be available on YouTube?
    • The workshop will be conducted on Zoom, and the recording will be uploaded to YouTube afterward.
  • When is the workshop?
  • How do we present the students’ work?
    • The presentation process will be explained in the workshop.
  • For the video submission, do we have to make the 2-minute video on the spot?
    • Yes, teams must complete the video within the 3-hour timeframe.
  • How do we submit the presentation video? Does it have to be via YouTube?
    • Yes, all presentation videos must be uploaded to YouTube. The submission process will be covered in the workshop.

Scoring & Awards

  • Will we receive scores after the first round?
    • No, competition scores will not be released after the first round.
  • If students do not complete the minimum requirements, will they still receive a participation certificate?
    • No, teams must meet the minimum completion requirements to receive the Certificate of Participation.
  • Will there be an Honorable Mention award for Stage 2 like last year?
    • We cannot confirm this at the moment.
  • Will the final closing ceremony be in Miri?
    • This will be confirmed closer to the date.

  • What is the registration deadline?
    • The deadline is 7th April.
  • Can students present in Malay?
    • Yes, presentations can be in either Malay or English.
  • Will this meeting be recorded?
    • Yes, the meeting will be recorded.
